Check out the new arrivals at the Wine Specialist.com:

Arneis is a grape native to northwest Italy's Piedmont region. Only 720 acres of this variety are planted, making it a rarity outside of the area. The Ascheri family vinify this Arneis at their modern winery in Bra. They make a refreshing, stylish white with good body that complements a wide variety of food.

Ascheri Barolo Sorano 2001  $59.99

Expansive aromas of dried roses, wildflowers, plum, black currant, roasted meats, saddle leather, and intense fruit flavors are balanced with a dense, full-bodied structure, assertive acidity, and fine, substantial tannins.

Cantina Del Pino Barbaresco 2004  $39.99

From the Wine Advocate: Proprietor Renato Vacca has emerged as one of the leading lights of Barbaresco within just the last few years. His 2004 Barbaresco is another super effort. It reveals fresh aromatics with just the lightest touch of oak followed by sweet, perfumed fruit that blossoms on the palate. Made in an accessible, approachable style, it offers notable purity of expression and terrific overall harmony. Vacca will release his single-vineyard 2004 Barbaresco Ovello in 2008, but the normal bottling certainly bodes well for that wine. Readers who are new to Barbaresco and want to experience the essence of what these wines are all about without spending a fortune should start here. Cantina del Pino's 2004 Barbaresco offers phenomenal quality at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016.

Le Vieux Donjon Chateauneauf-du-Pape 2006  $64.99

From the Wine Advocate: Vieux Donjon's 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is a powerful, seriously-endowed effort for the vintage, displaying more structure and muscle than most wines in this forward, fruit-friendly year. Classic Provencal characteristics of garrigue, licorice, lavender, pepper, and kirsch soar from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged offering. In the mouth, it is masculine, tannic, medium to full-bodied, and powerfully built.
